IKEUCHI, Shione | Dento-traditional style kokeshi doll | Yajiro style | 25cm in height

This is a dento Yajiro kokeshi doll, by Shione Ikeuchi who is a Yajiro style kokeshi craftsperson. (‘Dento’ means ‘traditional’ in Japanese.)

This doll has a simple paint design with a collar and hem of a kimono, and the head is decorated like a beret hat. Because this doll was made from wood, the raw material helps the doll with its atmosphere, like grain and touch.

The doll with varied wood color and cute expression reminds of us the imperfection of nature, but it’s always unique.

She was a member of the development training program of kokeshi craftspeople in Shiroishi city in 2017. She became an apprentice of Yoshinori and NIIYAMA Mayumi from 2018. She was accepted as a Yajiro style kokeshi craftsperson in 2020.

- Our Kokeshis are painted with water colors, so they can be easily damaged by water. Please use a dry cloth to clean it.
- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
