This is a Santa Claus kokeshi doll, by Muchihide Abo who is a Tsugaru style kokeshi craftsman.

The 11cm diameter head with smiling kokeshi facial expression makes a warm air in your room.

 There is a small scratch on the head, which was made during the production process. Please enjoy it as a texture of handwork.

He was born in 1950 in Aomori. He had a opportunity to make kokeshi at junior high school’s club. From 1966, he started learning woodwork under the guidance of Zenji Sato who was a kokeshi craftsman. It was said that he started making kokeshi dolls from 1969. He is the master of Masafumi Abo who is his son.
