This kokeshi was named ‘mokume’, which means wood grain, by HAYASAKA Masahiro who is a Togatta style kokeshi craftsman.

The wavy lines on the vivid red body, inspired by natural grain, give a modern twist to this kokeshi doll.

遠刈田系こけし早坂政弘工人の「木目」と名付けられたモダンな印象のこけしです。
自然の模様の美しさと、遠刈田系こけしのシャープさの対比が興味深いです。

He was born in a forestry family in 1961. He started woodworking in 1976, and started making kokshi dolls in 1981. His master is Masahiro SATO (1938-).

- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
