This is a komori-babysitting kokeshi doll, by NIIYAMA Mayumi who is a Yajiro style kokeshi craftsperson.

The sleeping baby kokeshi on her babysitter, makes us calm and peaceful. The baby is covered by a cute kimono coat.

どんぶくに包まれてスヤスヤと眠る赤ちゃんがかわいらしい、新山真由美工人の子守りこけしです。私達を穏やかな気分にしてくれます。

She started painting kokeshi dolls around 1987 and started learning woodwork from 1988. Her master is his husband Yoshinori NIIYAMA (1960-) who is a Yajiro style kokeshi craftsman.

師匠は新山吉太郎、新山吉紀

- Our Kokeshis are painted with water colors, so they can be easily damaged by water. Please use a dry cloth to clean it.
- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
