Kagamimochi kokeshi doll-07 | HAYASAKA, Masahiro | 12cm in height

A kokeshi doll with a set of kagamimochi on its head, was made by Masahiro Hayasaka who is a Togata style kokeshi craftsman.

The smiling facial expression with red cheeks looks like the kokeshi is exited about the New Year. It is a charming New Year decoration in your room!

The flower pattern on the body is chrysanthemum, which is a characteristic of the Togatta style kokeshi dolls. There is a Mikan-Japanese orange on the top of kagamimochi.

Kagamimochi 鏡餅 is a traditional New Year’s decoration in Japan. We stack two mochis, Japanese orange and set them in front of some places like a family shrine, Buddhist shrine or a small space you think is important such as your desk and car.
