A kokeshi has its own car. This wooden toy is called Fuku-kuruma 福車.
This fuku kuruma with samurai doll was made by SUZUKI, Seiichi who is a Hijiori style kokeshi craftsman.The man with a chonmage head is wearing a special kimono for samurai. Chonmage was a Japanese topknot for men in the samurai period.
This kokeshi can move forward with its wheels. Fuku means ‘luck’ and kuruma is ‘car’ in Japanese.
This doll is possibly vintage. Due to age, this kokeshi has spots.
