This is a Himawari kokeshi, by OHNUMA Hideaki who is a Naruko style kokeshi craftsman. Himawari means ‘sunflower’ in Japanese.
The upward facing expression makes her look like she is enjoying the summer fragrance.
The tree bark on the lower part on the body, looks like the ground.

He was born as the first son of OHNUMA Hideo (1930-2023) who was a Naruko style kokeshi craftsman.
He started learning woodwork from 1975 after graduating high school. He started selling his kokeshi dolls from 1984. It is said that he is a cheerful person and enjoining introducing kokeshi dolls to various places energetically.

- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
