Hina kokeshi doll, 雛こけし | ABO, Masafumi 阿保正文工人 | Tsugaru style 津軽系 | 10cm in height

This is a couple of Hina kokeshi dolls, by ABO Masafumi who is a Tsugaru style kokeahi craftsman.

It is said that Hina dolls represent the emperor and empress. This noble couple has a peony and plum on the body. The points on the forehead are eyebrows, which was popular makeup around the Heian era period (8-12 A.C) in Japan.

津軽系こけし阿保正文工人から届いた雛こけしです。津軽系伝統こけしの牡丹模様や梅の花が描かれた、小柄ながら雅な明るさのお雛こけしです。

He was born in 1983. He started learning wood work from 2005 under the guidance of his father ABO Muchihide. Since 2008, he is making kokeshi dolls.

- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
