This is a Daruma-e kokeshi, by ABO Muchihide 阿保六知秀 who is a Tsugaru style kokeshi craftsman.
The Daruma-e and peony are characteristics of Tsugaru style. (E means ‘painting’ in Japanese.) He calls this smudged peony painting ‘Bokashi Botan’. He created this pattern that looks like oil painting. (Botan 牡丹 means ‘peony’ in Japanese.)
craftsman : ABO, Muchihide 阿保六知秀 style: Tsugaru 津軽系 He was born in 1950 in Aomori. He had a opportunity to make kokeshi at junior high school’s club. From 1966, he started learning woodwork under the guidance of Zenji Sato who was a kokeshi craftsman. It was said that he started making kokeshi dolls from 1969. He is the master of Masafumi Abo who is his son.

Please use a dry cloth to clean it. - Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
