This is a Naruko style kokeshi, by OHNUMA Hieaki who is a Naruko style kokeshi craftsman.

This kokeshi is named 'miage', which mans 'looking up' in Japanese. The doll looks happy with an understated smiling expression. The flower on the body is chrysanthemum.

鳴子系こけしの大沼秀顕工人の、鳴子こけしです。
小さな笑顔で見上げた表情が、とても幸せそうに見えます。胴模様は鳴子伝統こけしの菊の花です。

He was born as the first son of OHNUMA Hideo (1930-2023) who was a Naruko style kokeshi craftsman.
He started learning woodwork from 1975 after graduating high school. He started selling his kokeshi dolls from 1984. It is said that he is a cheerful person and enjoining introducing kokeshi dolls to various places energetically.

- Our kokeshi are made of wood, so please avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Humidity may damage the kokeshi. Please avoid excess moisture. (especially direct air from the air conditioner damages to the kokeshi dolls.)
