This is a vintage kokeshi doll, by Shoji SAKURAI (1927-2011) who was a Naruko style kokeshi craftsman in Tohoku, Japan.
The flower on the body is chrysanthemum, which is a characteristic of Naruko style kokeshi doll.
Due to age, this kokeshi has a dent on the mouth.
The small items are not included in the product.

He was the first son of Mannojo(1891-1969) and Kou(1897-1978) who were kokeshi craftsmen in Naruko. The family of Shoji was a big kokeshi craftsmen line. That was continued from his great granduncle. Shoji was started learning woodwork in 1945 and started making kokeshi doll from 1947. He opened his own workshop ‘Sakurai kokeshi ten’ in 1950. (This family line is inherited to Shoji’s son Akihiro Sakurai.)

略歴
1927年 鳴子のこけし工人万之丞（1891-1969）とコウ（1897-1978）の長男として生まれる。昭二の家系は、その曾祖父から続く大きなこけし工人の系統であった。
1945年より木地を学び始め、1947年からこけしの製作を始める
1950年「桜井こけし店」を開業
