This is a Samurai kokeshi doll the name is Momo-taro 桃太郎, by ABO, Muchihide who is a Tsugaru style kokeshi craftsman.
Momo-taro is a folktale in Japan. The summary is a boy who was born from a peach defeated Oni(demons) with 3 animals and got treasures.
Oni is a kind of demon in Japanese. The animals he fought with were a monkey, bird and dog.
The glaring daruma, which is a characteristic of Tsugaru kokeshi, gives a strong image to this Momo-taro kokeshi doll.

He was born in 1950 in Aomori. He had a opportunity to make kokeshi at junior high school’s club. From 1966, he started learning woodwork under the guidance of Zenji Sato who was a kokeshi craftsman. It was said that he started making kokeshi dolls from 1969. He is the master of Masafumi Abo who is his son.
